What we compare against
Hire companies with a pickup on the Gold Coast that is not at the airport, for the same class, the same dates and length of hire, with a standard excess and standard kilometres.
Which price
The price you would pay at checkout including mandatory fees, not the headline "from" price. Where only a headline price is shown, we record it as a headline and do not treat it as a checkout price.
How fresh
A comparison is shown only when the check is less than six hours old. Older than that, the board shows our price on its own.
When we are not under
Our prices have a floor set by what it costs us to run each car. If the market dips below it, we keep our price and show no comparison.
The evidence
Every claim can be checked
Each market check is stored with the source, the time, the class and dates searched, the price found and a screenshot of the page. We keep these records so any comparison on this site can be checked against what was on the screen at the time. Searches are run at the pace a person would run them.
Know your price
Every fee, before you pay
The price for your dates is the total, including mandatory fees. Optional extras are priced separately and marked optional.
Bond
A card pre authorisation of $750, or $200 when you take the zero excess waiver. We release it the same day once the return check is clean. Your bank decides how fast the hold drops off your statement.
Excess
If the car is damaged or stolen, the most you pay is the excess of $3,000. Reduce it to $0 with our excess waiver for a daily fee shown in your quote.
The excess waiver
A contractual damage waiver sold by Why Not Drive, not insurance. One daily price in plain English, and the zero option has no carve outs for tyres, windscreen or underbody.
Drivers
21 or older with a full, open licence. No P plates. A young driver fee applies under 25: shown in your quote. Holding an overseas licence? Ask us before you book.
Fuel, tolls and fines
Fuel, tolls, fines and parking are yours. How each is charged is written in your quote and your hire agreement before you sign.
Kilometres
The kilometre allowance and the rate for any extra kilometres are shown in your quote.
Changes and cancelling
Change and cancellation terms are shown before you pay, and your rights under the Australian Consumer Law always apply.
Delivery
Delivery to Gold Coast hotels, homes and the airport is an optional extra, priced when you book. Collecting from Southport has no delivery charge.
Airport fees
None. We are in Southport, not at the airport, so there is no airport concession fee in our price.
