FAQ
Straight answers. Even to the awkward questions.
Short answers to the questions people actually ask, including the awkward ones.
Section one
Who it's for, and the money
Who is this for?
People whose car earns their income: support workers, mobile services, tradies, couriers, rideshare and other ABN holders. It must be mainly a work car.
How much do I pay up front?
A one off $850 setup fee to reserve your car, plus your first week's rent when you sign. No bond.
What if I cancel before collecting the car?
Cancel within 48 hours of paying the setup fee for a full refund. After that we keep one week's rent, or two weeks' after seven days. Full refund if the car is unsuitable when you collect it.
What's actually in the weekly payment?
The car, comprehensive insurance, rego, CTP, servicing, repairs, tyres and 24/7 roadside, fixed for your term. Tolls, fuel, fines and extra kilometres are yours, and an insurance excess applies if you claim.
Are there any hidden fees?
No. Every fee is listed on our how it works page, and your quote shows the total cost before you sign. No late fees.
Is there a bond or a deposit?
No. The setup fee isn't a deposit, isn't held as security and doesn't count towards buying the car.
What does it cost in total?
It depends on the car and term. We show the full total next to the weekly price before you sign. Try the calculator for an estimate.
Section two
Verification and getting approved
Does the initial enquiry check my credit?
No. The enquiry doesn't run a credit check.
What do you actually verify?
Your ABN, that the car is for your work, and that the payment fits your bank statements.
What counts as proof the car is for my work?
Worker screening or service agreements for support workers. Invoices, contracts or booking records for mobile services. Platform earnings for rideshare and delivery. We'll help you work out what fits.
I'm not running a business. Can I still apply?
Not for this product. It's for cars that mainly earn their keep, and an ABN on its own isn't enough.
What documents will I need?
None for the 60 second check. Then your licence, ABN details, proof of your work and three months of bank statements.
How fast can I be earning in it?
Most drivers pick up their car within the week of sending their documents.
Can I apply after bankruptcy?
Yes, you can enquire. Bankruptcy doesn't automatically decide it, though we may need more information.
Real checks, done with respect.60 seconds, no credit check to enquire.

The vehicle and the agreement
Can I choose my car?
Tell us the work and your budget and we'll match a car. You see the exact car and costs before you commit, and you can say no.
Can I use the car personally too?
Yes, around your work. Driving home, groceries and the odd weekend away are fine. It just needs to be mainly a work car.
Is there a km allowance?
Yes, set around your real work and shown in writing with the extra km rate. Each quarter you send an odometer photo through the app.
Who handles servicing and maintenance?
We do. Servicing, repairs and tyres are included for the whole term. You do basic checks like tyre pressure and tell us early if something's wrong.
Can I upgrade or return the car?
Yes. A swap doesn't restart your term and there's no preparation fee. To hand it back early, see early exit below.
What if the car breaks down?
Call 24/7 roadside. Repairs are on us. If there's no replacement car, your rent pauses, and after seven days without a car you can walk away with no exit fee.
What happens at the end of the term?
Hand the car back with no exit charge, or there may be an option to buy it.* Any sale is a separate agreement at the vehicle owner's discretion, and rental payments don't count towards the price.
Will I own the car at the end?
Not automatically. You rent the car on a business hire agreement. At the end of your term there may be an option to buy it.* It's not guaranteed and rental payments don't count towards the price.
Section four
When things go wrong
What happens if I have a bad week and miss a payment?
Talk to us early. There are no late fees. If a payment fails we retry after 72 hours, then give you seven days' written notice to catch up or agree a plan.
What if I hit real financial hardship?
Contact us early. See our hardship page for what we can do.
How do I complain, and what if we can't agree?
Customers email admin@whynotdrive.com.au, everyone else hello@whynotdrive.com.au. We reply within one business day. Still not happy? You can go to Queensland Fair Trading or QCAT. Full process.
Can I exit the agreement early?
Yes. Give four weeks' notice and pay one extra week of base rent. Less notice costs more, up to five weeks of base rent. No exit charge at the end of your term.
